BMW PANORAMIC iDRIVE AND BMW OPERATING SYSTEM X.

BMW Panoramic iDrive is the name for the complete display and operating architecture. It links four separate display surfaces into one unified system: BMW Panoramic Vision, the 17.9-inch Central Display in free-cut design, the 14.6-inch BMW Passenger Screen, and the 3D Head-Up Display.

BMW Panoramic Vision projects content across the full width of the lower windscreen from A-pillar to A-pillar. Driving data appears on the left in the driver's sightline. The central and right sections of the projection can be personalized and are visible to all occupants. Directly above it, the 3D Head-Up Display projects navigation instructions and driver-assistance data into the driver's line of sight with spatial depth.

The 17.9-inch Central Display sits in an ergonomic free-cut design position beside the steering wheel. It uses matrix backlight technology for sharp contrast in direct sunlight. Widgets from the Central Display can be dragged directly into BMW Panoramic Vision, giving drivers up to six freely arranged shortcuts to frequently used functions. The multifunction steering wheel uses a shy-tech layout, meaning its controls illuminate only when needed, keeping the spoke surface clean when assistance features are not in use.

BMW Operating System X, built on the Android Open Source Project architecture, is the software foundation. It supports over-the-air updates that add new functions without requiring a service visit. Up to seven driver profiles can be stored via BMW ID, and each profile stores personal display layouts, ambient light preferences, and driving mode configurations. The system also adjusts the color scheme of the user interface automatically to match a driver's chosen background image.

BMW PASSENGER SCREEN.

The 14.6-inch BMW Passenger Screen is standard on every 2027 BMW 7 Series. It shares the same full HD multi-touch technology as the Central Display and gives the front passenger access to video streaming, gaming, music, and other entertainment from the BMW Digital Premium catalog, all without requiring a separate BMW ID login. An integrated shield function prevents passenger-side content from creating a visual distraction for the driver.

When no front passenger is present, the screen dims to a reduced ambient mode that matches the active My Mode setting and blends with the overall interior lighting.

BMW INTELLIGENT PERSONAL ASSISTANT WITH AMAZON ALEXA+.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant responds to natural language. Drivers and passengers do not need to memorize fixed commands. The assistant handles climate control, navigation, media, seat comfort, phone calls, and window operation by voice. It can be activated with "Hey BMW" or the steering wheel button.

Amazon Alexa+ AI technology is integrated into the assistant as a large language model layer. This allows conversational back-and-forth exchanges, access to external knowledge and cloud services, and music streaming through an Amazon account.

BMW THEATRE SCREEN.

The available 31.3-inch BMW Theatre Screen is a ceiling-mounted rear-seat display with 8K resolution. The entire surface is touch-operated. Rear passengers can stream video, access apps from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store, play games via AirConsole with smartphones used as controllers, or connect an external device through an HDMI port in the center console. A built-in camera enables Zoom video calls from the rear compartment. Bluetooth pairing supports headphones and game controllers.

Deploying the BMW Theatre Screen triggers an automated sequence: the side window and rear sunshades close, the Panoramic Skylounge LED roof dims, and rear ambient lighting adjusts for viewing.

BMW TOUCH COMMAND AND REAR CONTROLS.

Each rear door panel includes a 5.5-inch BMW Touch Command touchscreen. These panels control climate settings, seat adjustments, infotainment selection, ambient lighting, and BMW Theatre Screen positioning, giving rear passengers direct control over their environment without reaching to the center console.

BMW DIGITAL KEY PLUS.

BMW Digital Key Plus uses Ultra-Wideband and Bluetooth technology to allow compatible smartphones and smartwatches to open, lock, and start the vehicle. The compatible device can remain in a pocket or bag from approach to departure. The key can be shared with other users via a messaging app, with individual roles and permissions set per recipient. A physical key is also included.

AVAILABLE AUTOMATIC DOOR TECHNOLOGY.

The optional Automatic Door system opens and closes the front and rear doors with a single touch of the flush-mounted door handle. Radar sensors integrated into the side skirts and vehicle ends detect obstacles and approaching road users before the door moves. A new Soft Close mechanism draws each door shut smoothly.

AVAILABLE BOWERS AND WILKINS DIAMOND SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM WITH DOLBY ATMOS.

The optional Bowers and Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System consists of up to 36 speakers with an amplifier output of up to 1,965 watts. Speakers are integrated into the front and rear seat head restraints as well as the door panels. A 4D audio function uses exciters in seat backrests to reproduce bass frequencies physically. Dolby Atmos support creates a three-dimensional soundscape for compatible audio content. The standard Bowers and Wilkins Surround Sound System, included on every BMW 7 Series, delivers up to 575 watts through 18 speakers.
