BMW X5 vs Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 in Knoxville

The BMW X5 Takes on the Competition

When drivers want a luxury SUV in Knoxville with world-class style and quality, they want a BMW. When they want a topnotch selection of these incredible vehicles, they choose Grayson BMW on Parkside Drive. No one does pampering like BMW, and no other luxurious lineup of SUVs can quite compare to the BMW X-Series line. From the small BMW X1 to the coupe-style BMW X6, the BMW model lineup of X-Series vehicles is both remarkable and well-crafted.

The BMW X5 is the largest of the SUV-style X-Series models. A four-door SUV with available all-wheel drive, the X5 seats five people, gives drivers a slew of amazing features, and comes in your choice of trim levels and engines.

Mercedes-Benz GLE 350

The BMW X5 vs. the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350

The Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 is another, similarly-sized, luxury SUV. If you're torn between these two renowned models, let us help. We've set both SUVs side by side, and compared them by the numbers. As you can see, both have a lot to offer Tennessee drivers. But, the BMW comes out ahead in several key areas.

Power & Performance

Both the BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 give drivers more power than the typical, run-of-the mill SUV or crossover. In fact, both of these SUVs come with a standard, 300-horsepower V6 engine. But, the BMW X5 outshines the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 in a couple of areas. For example, the BMW X5 standard V6 is turbocharged, giving drivers more get-up-and go, and it offers 300 pound-feet or torque. Comparatively, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 standard engine is not turbocharged, and it's rated for 273 pound-feet or torque.

Drivetrain

  • The BMW X5 has several possible trim options for drivers to choose from, the majority of which have standard all-wheel drive (which BMW calls xDrive). The only exception to this is the entry-level X5, the BMW X5 35i, which comes standard with rear-wheel drive, and has all-wheel drive available as an option. However, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 doesn't offer standard all-wheel drive. Like the BMW X5 35i, this model has standard rear-wheel drive, and optional all-wheel drive.
  • Features

As two luxury-level SUVs, drivers expect both of these models to offer a comprehensive list of innovative and high-end tech features. While the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 doesn't exactly disappoint in this area, it also doesn't quite reach the same level of pampering convenience as the BMW X5. For example, the BMW SUV comes with a standard navigation system. The Mercedes-Benz model, on the other hand, only has navigation available as an add-on, as part of a special, optional package.

    Storage

Both of these SUVs offer drivers plenty of room to carry their big pieces and heavier loads. But, when it comes to life's smaller objects, the BMW X5 outshines the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350. While the BMW SUV offers convenient storage solutions throughout the interior of the vehicle, including cup holders and center console storage, the Mercedes-Benz model offers only a handful of small storage areas. There are door pockets, and a small shelf under the center stack in the front, but, otherwise, you won't find a lot of places to find all of the smaller cargo items you take with you on a daily basis.
