Grayson BMW is proud to sponsor a hole at for the Team Britton Golf Tournament at Willow Creek!
Team
Britton is a non-profit organization named after Britton Butler, a young
man who was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in May of 2006; he was
twenty-two years old. Britton had wanted to host a golf tournament to
raise money for cancer awareness, to focus on early detection, and to
show that colon cancer is not just an "old person's" disease. Britton
was lucky to have financial support afforded to him, as a result, he
wanted to raise money for individuals who were not as fortunate as
he was. Britton himself chose The Colon Cancer Alliance as an
organization to receive support from the money raised at the golf
tournament. Britton, who was a huge University of Tennessee fan, had
another goal. He wanted young kids to be able to attend a Tennessee
sporting event that had never had the chance to go to a game, one of his
favorite activities. Because of a partnership with the Big
Brother's/Big Sister's organization, some of those kids are now being
given that opportunity through donations from Team Britton. The Jimmy V
Foundation, one of Britton's favorite foundations, was also included
in the list of organizations in which Britton wanted to donate monetary
support.
Many of Britton's wishes came true on May 24,2012, when the 1st
Annual Team Britton golf tournament was held at Avalon Golf Course.
Unfortunately, Britton, who passed away on February 18th, 2012, was not
able to see his dream come to life. However, his family and
friends definitely felt his spirit as they jumped in to plan, organize
and carry out one of the best golf tournaments Knoxville has ever seen!
