Certified CenterIt has been a long time coming for BMW fans both here in our Knoxville, TN and nationally, as we have eagerly anticipated the release of the upcoming addition of the 2 Series to the new BMW model lineup, and finally, we have our answers as BMW has made the full production version and specifications on two of the models, with BMW's aim of having them in the showroom by early 2014. Let's take a moment and preview these exciting additions.
BMW released information on two of their new 2 Series models, the 228i and the M performance-based model, the M235i. Starting with the 228i, there is a turbocharged engine that is capable of 240 horsepower, which delivers power efficiently through a new six-speed manual, or eight-speed automatic transmission. By BMW's own estimates, the model will achieve 23 miles per gallon in city conditions, and 35 miles per gallon on the highway, though it has yet to be EPA tested.
The BMW M235i model takes everything up a notch in terms of performance. The engine included on this model is a powerful 3.0-liter six cylinder in line engine with 322 horsepower and 332 pound feet of torque, giving it a 0-60 time of only 4.8 seconds.
And of course, both models come with the wealth of tech and comfort features that drivers have come to demand of their BMW models.
