Do you remember the Toyota Supra? A superstar sports car produced by Toyota from 1978 to 2002, this model inspired Toyota fans across the world with its appearances in music videos, films, video games, and television shows. It also impressed on the track, where it showed off its super-powerful engine. Rumor has it, BMW's new sports car, the upcoming BMW Z5, could share a platform with this iconic and much-beloved model.

A German newspaper is reporting that the new sleek ride will feature a powerful engine that producing between 211- and 367-hp and will feature an optional hybrid engine. This engine is slated to be built by BMW, and we hear rumors that the car will certainly be a pure two-seater with RWD.

Of course, rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt, but the recent partnership between BMW and Toyota leaves us believing that they could, in this case, be true. If they are, we may even see the vehicle labeled the next "Supra."

The idea that the new vehicle could be offered as a hybrid sports car is especially exciting, since we haven't seen much development yet in this segment of the industry. After all, who wouldn't want a car that's power ultra-powerful and efficient?
