2013 BMW X3 Road Test Preview

The X3 was totally revamped for 2011 and continues forward unchanged for 2012, but 2013 will see a new turbocharged four-cylinder base engine was equipped with a larger body, more powerful engines and a more comfortable ride than its predecessor.

Two engines were offered at launch, a 240-horsepower/221 ft-lb 3.0-litre normally aspirated inline six, and a 300-horsepower/300 ft-lb, turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six. Both used BMW's eight-speed automatic transmission-no manual transmission was offered. For 2013, the normally aspirated engine will be dropped in favour of BMW's new TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine.

The 2.0-litre powerplant…

2013 BMW 5 Series

Next generation BMW X5 is due out in 2013. The F40 platform is rumored to feature a modular design, a common trend in future BMWs, that allows the company to achieve significant savings across its lineup.

Design wise, the new 2013 BMW X5 is said to feature more flowing character lines and sculpted surfaces that will broaden the design of the X family. At the front end, the new X5 will feature a more imposing kidney grille, larger and wider than in the current model. The headlights will get the LED treatment and the shape will follow the design seen…

ROAD TEST 2012 BMW 328i

It wouldn't be an understatement to say that the most watched and anticipated luxury car introduction this spring is the arrival of the BMW 3 Series.

If you have ever heard of the term "benchmark," the 3 Series is the benchmark, or industry gold standard, when it comes to vehicle dynamics, control, power and refinement in the compact luxury segment.

Not just a big deal outside of BMW's stable, it is also a huge deal inside the company as it reflects the single most important model in terms of sales and profit.

Just as other brands start to…

BMW Super bild of the day: X5 M

The BMW X5 M is a high-performance derivative of the X5. Though it may look like your ordinary X5, this tuned up SAV is able to run with some of the world's best sports cars.

The X5 M and X6 M siblings made their debut at the NY International Auto Show in April of 2009, and shortly after they were billed as the most powerful vehicles in their class at that time.

The X5 M sprints to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, and a quarter mile of 12.5 seconds with a trap speed of 112 mph as…

2012 BMW 335i SEDAN

It's no small matter when BMW rolls out an all new 3 Series, not only does the car represent BMW's bread-and-butter - it represent 50% of all bimmers sold - it's also the benchmark upon which every other entry-level luxury sedan has been judged over the last 30+ years. For 2012, BMW made the new 335i faster, more fuel-efficient and gave it a controversial but in my opinion beautifying face lift.

A new 3 Series face features bright Xenon adaptive headlights with the signature coronas that pour inward toward the iconic chrome-wrapped grill. The front bumper is broad and…

2012 bmw 3 series review

The launch of a new BMW on the motoring scene is always a significant event, not just for admirers of the Munich marque, but for anyone interested in cars. The debut of another 'Ultimate driving machine' is always guaranteed to cause a bit of a stir, and particularly when the model concerned is the latest incarnation of the iconic 3-Series.

The significance of the 3-Series is obvious from the numbers. Since 1975 more than 12 million of these cars have been bought around the world, accounting for one in five BMW cars sold. Here in Britain this model is so…

2012 BMW X5 REVIEW

MW's latest of its flagship project of producing luxury crossover SUV's has seen the launch of the 2012 X5 BMW, a car with generous features, powerful engines and A list on set of on-road credentials. The California team of engineers had an easier task with responding to the ever demanding motoring industry of new designs ever year. The task was more of a complimentary one with some previous optional features found in the X5 2011 becoming standard features for 2012's X5 series. BMW can afford to grow modestly having worked hard to build the sporty driving dynamics…

2012 bmw 650i Cabriolet

Even after seven full days behind the wheel of BMW's 650i Cabriolet - it still felt special to get inside. A swoopy and elegant interior molds around your body, wrapping you in modern luxury. Illuminated kick plates remind you of the top-shelf quality you're about to enjoy.

A new high resolution info-tainment screen juts out from the middle of the dash. In many ways a center piece, all on-board systems can be manipulated through this screen. A couple of passengers asked me to retract the screen and twisted their face with confusion when I replied that it wasn't…

2012 BMW 650i

If you've driven BMWs in the past, then the layout of switchgear will naturally fall to hand. In typical BMW 'form-follows-function' design, drive related buttons are found on the left of the steering wheel, and comfort related buttons are found on the right. At night, all gauges and buttons glow amber so as not to compromise your night vision - a nod to fighter jet cockpit design. Also a nod to the fighter jet is a bright and height-adjustable HUD or "Heads Up Display" which can show information ranging from low fuel warnings, to step-by-step instructions from the navigation system…

2012 BMW X3 xDrive 28i

I was a decided nonfan of the last generation X3--I thought it was far too unrefined to be a BMW.

I do like this 2012 BMW X3 xDrive 28i better. It's not a bad little scooter, though I submit that this car, like other BMWs that I've driven, is let down by its run-flat tires, which make it ride too harshly in my opinion and leads to an unrefined feeling. As I said, it's better than the outgoing model but it isn't a BMW to me.

The interior of this new car is way better…
